About the Recipe

It's the perfect Autumn treat - but actually great at any time of the year! A great rainy day activity for the kids as it's really easy to get an eye-catching outcome. Give them a go and enjoy on a chilly evening watching fireworks for full effect :-)

Ingredients

6 apples - unwaxed if possible (see notes below if not!)

400g your favourite chocolate

Sprinkles

Sticks (chopsticks are perfect for this!)

Baking paper or a non-stick sheet

Preparation

If your apples are waxed, place them into some luke warm water for a short time. Make sure you thoroughly dry them before trying to apply the chocolate!

Mount your apple on a stick so it goes through the core. We used chopsticks for this which worked perfectly!

Melt your chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water or in 20 second blasts in the microwave. The twirl your apples in the chocolate, standing each upright on the baking sheet once covered.

You'll want to add your sprinkles to each apple as soon as they are covered in chocolate as it sets pretty fast. Once all apples are covered you can transfer them to the fridge to fully set.

We got a bit crafty with our apples as we were giving some away so we wrapped in sellophane and tied with a bow. A lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon!
